ACR | 0.6 | Rally Events - Peugeot 306 MAXI - Turini - La Bollène - Time Attack | TV & Onboard | 4K

Continuing my Assetto Corsa Rally v0.6 Rally Events medal hunt, this time attacking Turini - La Bollène-Vésubie at night with the Peugeot 306 MAXI. This was the final challenge needed to complete the Peugeot 306 MAXI set. And it turned into much more than just a normal night run. 🌙 Turini at Night - Limited Visibility The biggest challenge was immediately obvious. The 306 MAXI headlights are not especially effective for tight night stages. Most of the light is concentrated directly in front of the car, while the sides remain much darker. That becomes a problem in tighter corners and hairpins, where I want to see much more of the road edge before committing to the turn. Instead, I often had to rely more heavily on the pacenotes and trust where the road was going. 💡 Headlights Make Hairpins Much Harder The lighting works reasonably well when the road stays directly ahead. But as soon as the stage begins turning sharply, visibility becomes much more limited. The beam simply does not illuminate enough of the inside and outside edges of the corner. That makes finding the right turn-in point much harder, especially when pushing at speed. It added an extra level of concentration to an already demanding stage. 📺 Mid-Run TV Warning Then came another completely unexpected problem. In the middle of the stage, my TV suddenly displayed a warning that it was going to shut down in three minutes. Not exactly the message you want to see while attacking a night rally stage. Thankfully, my son came to the rescue and sorted it out before the screen actually turned off. Definitely one of the stranger mid-stage distractions I've had recently. ☀️ Daylight Reflections on a Night Stage There was another visibility problem as well. I completed this run during the day, which meant reflections on the TV made the dark night stage even harder to see. So between the limited headlights and reflections on the screen, visibility was definitely not ideal. Still, the run remained under control. 🌡️ Warm Tires in the Final Sector The only real driving mistake came near the end of the final sector. By then, the tires were very warm and grip had started to fall away. That resulted in one small contact with the wall. Thankfully, nothing serious. The car survived and the run continued to the finish. 🌍 P9 on the World Leaderboard Despite all of those distractions and visibility problems, the final result was much better than expected. The run was enough for P9 on the world leaderboard. Top 10. And more importantly, another Gold medal. Limited headlight coverage. Dark hairpins. Screen reflections. A TV threatening to shut itself off in the middle of the run. And warm tires causing a small wall touch near the end. But none of it was enough to stop the run. Gold secured. P9 on the world leaderboard. And the Peugeot 306 MAXI challenge set is complete. 148 Gold medals out of 238 challenges. Another car finished. The medal hunt continues. Never Give Up.
