Shinrin - forest. In Japan there is a word for simply walking among trees and letting the quiet do the rest: shinrin-yoku, forest bathing. A narrow mountain path late at night, under tall cedars: one small stone lantern burning beside an old flight of mossy stone steps, and somewhere further down the mountain, a stream running on and on. Nothing else is lit. Someone stands on the steps with their back to us, in no hurry to climb and in no hurry to leave. Two hours of slow Japanese zen music for deep meditation, healing and deep relaxation: koto, shakuhachi flute and a single soft low drone, over the distant sound of the stream, with one drop of dew falling from a branch onto the moss, the tops of the cedars stirring once far overhead, and at the very end, the first grey light between the trunks.
