Clyde's Ravine at Barnwell Mountain - New Jeep Badge Trail in Texas!

Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area finally joined the list of Jeep Badge of Honor locations with Clyde's Ravine, a three-star or 5/10 difficulty trail. Although Clyde's Ravine itself is fairly short, the Jeep badge shows the entire Adventure Trail which is a more beginner friendly route that tours the entire park. Drivers can expect a deeply eroded trail, occasional stretches of moderate rocks and ledges, and deep ruts that might lean you into the wall with the wrong line. The trails descends as it goes north to south. In general, Barnwell Mountain trails are narrow and wind through dense trees. Like many off-road parks, it can be hard to tell where you are, so a GPS based app may help you find your position on the trail map. The front office has restrooms and souvenirs, and there is camping and cabins on-site, and the town of Gilmer is about ten minutes away with gas and food.
