Clinton Marina Sailing Club hosts Fleet 135 of the Flying Scot Sailing Association.  This Club trials multiple new initiatives to gain members, improve sailing skills, and reduce race management requirements.  Eric from @SailboatInstructor is a leader in the development of this Club and invited the Sailing Brothers, Kevin and Steve, to sail a provided boat, Kentucky Lady, at a recent one-day Club event.  Since this was about 2 weeks before the Flying Scot Glow in the Dark Regatta, the Brothers believed this would be a great opportunity to test their mettle on a lake where Gadzooks! has never finished well.  Off they went with boom cam in hand, testing new mic holders for audio. The day dawned beautifully, with puffy clouds in the blue sky and fluctuating winds (4-12 knots) from the ENE.  Race management was done from shore at the point of the Marina and the start/finish/leeward gate were just off-shore from the Marina, giving Shore House Bar and Grill patrons a show.  Race Committee leveraged drones to observe competitors and called start times with VHF radio.  There were up to 12 competitors for the 4 race series. Brothers Kevin and Steve got a great start, although they believed they may have been OCS ("On Course Side" of the start line) at the gun, but sailed on, knowing this was a Club race and not a serious regatta.  They played the shifts well and stayed in contention for the win.  A mark at the start/finish pulled loose, and since there was no on-water race committee a fellow competitor dropped out to reset the mark, allowing him redress for scoring in Race 1. The course was short, this is only a 16 minute video, and the Brothers are continuing to improve their skillset throughout.  We had a terrific time and thank Eric for his generosity at loaning us Kentucky Lady (#4890) for us to use.  Clinton Marina Sailing Club has floating docks with Flying Scots pulled up and stowed ready to sail, making it an easy place to sail and learn to sail.  The Shore House Bar and Grill provides a terrific venue for a cold beverage following racing, and a hot meal on those cool days when coming off the water.  The staff is excellent, making this a welcoming place to sail.  For more information on Clinton Marina Sailing Club and the venue, see    • Calm Before the Glow  . 0:00 Intro 0:19 Title Splash, Course, and Pre-start 1:50 Start! 6:16 First Windward Mark 9:29 Leeward Mark 14:36 Races is shortened to the Windward Mark 15:21 Finish 15:38 Outro
