Hulst’s city center, which is mainly visited by Belgian shoppers on weekends and public holidays. The battle for public transport seems lost—Zeeland province failed to deliver the promised bus connection between Hulst and Antwerp Luchtbal, and the previous destinations Halewijn and Noorderplaats are no longer served. The city is just 5 km from the border and about 10 km from most nearby villages, including Vogelwaarde and Kloosterzande. Since August, the city does offer shared bikes, which you can rent to reach destinations like Sint-Niklaas in Belgium (15 km), Antwerp (34 km), and beyond. But the surrounding villages of Hulst have no drop zones—and only one bus per hour (if it shows up 😉).
