Storm Boelo swept across the north-west of Ireland and Northern Ireland on Saturday night and Sunday 25 October. ESB Networks says about 41,000 homes, farms and businesses lost power, mostly in the north-west, and expects most to be reconnected by Sunday evening. In Donegal, trees and debris blocked roads and power lines were tangled in fallen trees, and a gust of 83 mph was recorded at Malin Head. Flights were cancelled at Dublin, Cork and Belfast, and Northern Ireland was under an amber wind warning, with power cuts across County Tyrone, the Foyle Bridge closed and waves battering Portstewart harbour. Halloween fireworks and sports fixtures were called off, a day after Storm Austen hit the south.
