North out of Bodega Bay, Highway 1 climbs along the bluffs before dropping back to sea level at the mouth of the Russian River, where harbor seals haul out on the sandbar and the road turns inland toward the redwoods.
This 49-minute dash cam drive covers Highway 1 from Bodega Bay to Jenner, then east on Highway 116 into Duncans Mills, California, ending at Thistledown Antiques. Brown noise runs underneath the whole route, sized for a focused hour or a quiet stretch of study time.
Journey Highlights:
📍 Location: Bodega Bay to Duncans Mills, California, via Highway 1 and Highway 116
🎥 Vantage Point: Top-center windshield mount, beside the rearview mirror, forward-facing
🌅 Event: The Sonoma Coast bluffs and the Russian River mouth at Jenner
Traveler's Note: This footage was captured in November 2025, driven start to finish with no stops edited out. The natural road audio has been replaced with brown noise, so the drive plays clean rather than loud.

📖 About this drive:
Jenner sits right where the Russian River finally reaches the Pacific, and the sandbar at its mouth hosts one of the largest harbor seal colonies on the Sonoma Coast — Goat Rock Beach, just north of town, is a designated pupping area where volunteers patrol during spring to keep visitors at a safe distance. The stretch of Highway 1 leading into town is considered one of the more dramatic sections of the whole California coast, with the road climbing high above the water on the approach from Bodega Bay before dropping back down to river level.
At Jenner, the drive turns inland onto Highway 116, and the character of the footage changes almost immediately — open ocean and bluffs give way to forest as the road follows the Russian River east toward Duncans Mills, a former lumber and railroad town from the 1870s that's kept its original scale even as it's turned into a strip of small antique shops and cafes.
The seal colony, the coastal cliffs, and the sudden shift into river forest all happen inside this one short leg — a lot of terrain change for 49 minutes.
