It’s a little chaotic this morning. We had around 60 mm of rain at Melrose overnight, and that certainly changed things very quickly. Well, how things can change overnight! One day it’s just a nice little stream, and the next morning it has turned into a raging torrent. The creeks were flowing strongly, and the whole landscape looked completely different. We had already decided to extend our stay by one day because the weather was going to make packing up difficult. But, in the end, there was no avoiding it — we still had to pack up the caravan in the wet! It’s all part of travelling this way, though. You can make all the plans you like, but sometimes Mother Nature has other ideas! We got a little wet packing up the van, but now we can finally make tracks towards Jamestown. The amount of water across the road and out in the paddocks is incredible. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this much water around. We’ve made it to Jamestown for a couple of nights, with a bit of sightseeing planned while we’re there. Then on to Morgan and Hogwash bend where we will be off grid camping.
