But is there really a balance in your relationships—or are you always the one who gives, understands, forgives and makes sacrifices? Some people give their love. They give their time. They give their energy. They give their money. Eventually, they begin giving away pieces of themselves. Then one day, they realize a painful truth: while trying to be there for everyone else, they have abandoned themselves. In this video, we talk about: • The balance between giving and receiving • Why people who constantly give eventually burn out • The difference between kindness and self-sacrifice • Why saying “no” can feel so difficult • Why setting boundaries creates guilt • Whether people love us—or merely love what we provide • How to say “no” without feeling like a bad person The story of the two buckets in the well reminds us that life is neither about constantly giving nor constantly taking. The story of the tree’s shade teaches us another essential truth: “I gave you the fruit of my tree—not ownership of the tree.” Doing something kind for someone does not give them unlimited access to your life. Yesterday’s “yes” does not take away your right to say “no” today. Remember: Kindness is a gift, not a deed of ownership. Loving others does not require abandoning yourself. Setting boundaries does not make you a bad person. Sometimes saying “no” to someone else means finally saying “yes” to yourself. An empty bucket cannot provide water. A tree with damaged roots cannot continue producing fruit. Is there a healthy balance in your relationships—or are you always the one giving, fixing and understanding?
