Chop the Rhythm Go Front — Carry the Rhythm Further | Cameroon 🇨🇲

“Carry the Rhythm Further” opens our Central African journey with a Contemporary Cameroonian song in Cameroonian Pidgin English (Kamtok), with makossa-inspired syncopation. A travelling dressmaker connects the movement of Douala, the work of potters and carvers in the western highlands, the slopes of Mount Cameroon and the Lobé coast. Across several days, a bundle of stage clothes becomes part of an evening performance. The proposed musical direction is contemporary and makossa-inspired, with a warm alto, answering voices, interlocking guitars and a short tenor saxophone passage. This is an original song, with Duala proposed for the translated vocal version. The English source lyrics and production choices remain open to refinement before recording.
