Pollinators Celebrating Love was released on World Bee Day, 20 May 2026, as the English version of the much-loved Maltese song Festin Għad-Dakkara. Written by Rita Pace, composed by Augusto Cardinali, and performed by Christabelle Scerri, the song brings Katerina the Honey Bee into a colourful musical story that introduces children to pollination in a joyful and imaginative way.
The song presents pollination as a wedding celebration between flowers. Through this playful idea, young listeners are invited to understand how pollinators help flowers produce fruit and continue the cycle of life. Katerina and her pollinator friends are portrayed as excited wedding guests, travelling from flower to flower, enjoying nectar, and taking part in nature’s celebration.
The lyrics explain that when a flower is pollinated, the petals eventually fall and fruit begins to grow. In this way, the song gently connects the beauty of flowers with the food that humans and other creatures enjoy. It also highlights different pollinators, including bees, wasps, flies, mosquitoes, butterflies, and birds, showing children that many living creatures have an important role in nature.
An important message in the song is the need to protect flowers and the habitats where pollinators live. Children are reminded not to take flowers away, because pollinators need these spaces to feed, survive, and continue their work. The song also celebrates cooperation in nature, showing that the cycle of life depends on the relationship between flowers, pollinators, the earth, and the skies above.
With its lively rhythm, repeated chorus, and child-friendly storytelling, Pollinators Celebrating Love makes an important environmental concept easy to understand. It encourages children to see pollinators not only as insects and animals, but as part of one big family working together to keep nature beautiful, productive, and full of life.

POLLINATORS CELEBRATING LOVE
________________________________
Come on, we got work to do!
Katerina the Honey Bee too
is taking flowers on a date
and the couple just can’t wait!
There’s a wedding on, today
the beauty takes our breath away
To every flower we have been
Dressed in colour, a wedding scene!
And the good news is that you
can enjoy this party too
cause a wedding’s celebrated
when a flower’s pollinated!
The pollinators are waiting
And anticipating
Katerina the Honey Bee too
A wedding guest like me and you!
So we’re all invited
And we’re so excited
We’re hungry, there’s more than enough
For us when flowers fall in love!
Guess what? It’s a special flight
The groom is coming for his bride
Here’s the flower, he’s the one
And it’s only just begun
When the petals start to drop
the fruit starts to grow on top
So delicious, you can eat
Even humans get a treat
Please don’t take our flowers away
Leave for us a place to stay
Or where will we be celebrating?
What will we be pollinating?
The pollinators are waiting
And anticipating
Katerina the Honey Bee too
A wedding guest like me and you!
So we’re all invited
And we’re so excited
We’re hungry, there’s more than enough
For us when flowers fall in love!
Wasps and flies, mosquitoes here
Butterflies and birds appear
So much nectar we can share
Flowers smell good everywhere
A wedding celebration, for all of us to see
We are one big family
Everywhere is full of love
From the earth to skies above
The cycle of life and creation
Is built on this cooperation
Nature works beautifully
A lesson for you and me!
The pollinators are waiting
And anticipating
Katerina the Honey Bee too
A wedding guest like me and you!
So we’re all invited
And we’re so excited
We’re hungry, there’s more than enough
For us when flowers fall in love!
