10 Tea Bags Millions Trust, Could They Release Billions of Microplastics? Millions of people brew tea every day without ever asking one simple question: what is the tea bag itself made from? Researchers testing certain plastic tea bags under brewing conditions reported approximately 11.6 billion microplastic particles and 3.1 billion nanoplastic particles from a single tested bag. But that does not mean every tea bag behaves the same way, and different brands use very different materials.
