Postcards From Tenby - DZOFilm Arcana 1.5x Anamorphic

Putting these latest DZOFilm hybrid anamorphic lenses through their paces during a vacation in Tenby, Wales. The first thing you notice is just how sharp these lenses are, even at T2.1 wide open. Superb image quality which you would expect on a more expensive lens, yet these compact anamorphics punch way above their price range with excellent colour rendition, sharpness and build quality. The 32mm has very noticeable barrel distortion which I personally like a lot. Overall, you get a solid and very usable 2x anamorphic look on a 1.5x squeeze - these lenses are an excellent and affordable start for those wanting to jump into anamorphic cinematography. One thing to note, you may notice some harsh vignetting on some shots (especially the 32mm) - this is due to the (rather cheap) VND filter being wrongly adjusted and NOT the lenses! I didn't notice this during shooting due to how bright the weather was, even when viewing through the EVF as I didn't have an external monitor with me. I managed to partially correct some of these shots in post, though it's something that should never have happened and my lesson has been learnt. I just need to get a better VND now. As always the S1H captured the footage impeccably. Recorded in 4K UHD 4:2:2 10-bit LGOP 25fps with V-Log profile. Edited on Premiere Pro 2026. Colour graded with Lumetri Color and Magic Bullet Looks. Exported at 5.7K 2.66:1 aspect ratio.
