Why are there Seven Lucky Gods — but eight sacred places on this pilgrimage? 🇯🇵 Across Kamakura and Enoshima, temples and shrines are connected through a pilgrimage dedicated to Japan’s famous Seven Lucky Gods, known as the Shichifukujin. Each deity represents a different form of good fortune — from happiness and prosperity to art, knowledge and success. Along the journey we encounter Hotei at Jōchi-ji, Benzaiten, Ebisu at Hongaku-ji, Daikokuten at Hase-dera and eventually continue across the water to Enoshima. And there we discover why seven gods can mean eight sacred places.
