Night Got Deep is an original Christian song inspired by Acts 16:16–40, the story of Paul and Silas in Philippi. They had been beaten. Their backs were wounded. Their feet were fastened in stocks. The prison doors were still closed. And then the night got deep. Paul prayed. Silas sang. The prisoners listened. Before the earthquake came, before the doors opened, before the chains fell, they praised God in the darkness. Then the foundations shook. The prison opened, but the greatest freedom that night was not simply freedom from iron.
