BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has called for reclaiming Chittagong, Noakhali and Sylhet, territories now part of Bangladesh, claiming they historically belonged to the erstwhile Tipra Kingdom. His remarks have received support from Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma, who described their separation during Partition as a historical and strategic mistake. Dubey alleged that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru handed over these territories to Pakistan without the consent of Tripura's Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya. He also referred to the 1946 Noakhali violence and made claims about the deaths of Hindus. Both leaders highlighted the loss of sea access, with Dubey linking it to the Northeast's strategic concerns and the importance of the Siliguri Corridor, popularly known as the Chicken's Neck.
