Ten boats. Eight paddlers per crew. Four rounds. A $1,000 prize for the highest-scoring team.
On the last day of Pchum Ben, I watched a local wooden-boat race in Kbal Kach village, Kandal province, Cambodia—a celebration known mainly around the surrounding villages.
In this episode, I take you along to watch the racing boats, the crews paddling together and a village celebration unfolding beside the water.
The competition brings together colourful wooden boats and coordinated crews, with scores accumulated across four rounds to determine the winning team.
