With his deep knowledge and understanding of Lalon and his philosophy, noted Lalon singer Abdul Karim Shah mentored several of the country's top Lalon singers. His resonant voice would drown you in the mystery of Lalon's philosophy and tune. For his contribution to folk music of the country, Abdul Karim received prestigious Ekushey Padak in 2011 in arts category. The noted singer died, aged 90, on June 20, 2014 at his Kushtia home after suffering a long spell of asthma.
