A Ghibli-Like Town with an Ocean View | Summer in Onomichi, Japan|JAPAN TRAVEL VLOG

Hello everyone, this is Kate! Welcome back to our summer journey across Japan. If you’re new here, we’ve been exploring Japan one destination at a time through slow train journeys, quiet towns, and beautiful landscapes. We began in Shikoku, visiting Matsuyama, Dogo Onsen, Matsuyama Castle, and Shimonada Station. Then we continued to Okayama and Kurashiki, and today our journey brings us to Hiroshima Prefecture. Today we’re taking a summer train journey to one of Japan’s most picturesque seaside towns Onomichi. Nestled between the hills and the Seto Inland Sea, Onomichi is famous for its historic temples, charming waterfront, narrow hillside streets, and breathtaking ocean views. Many people say that walking through Onomichi feels like stepping into a Studio Ghibli film. As a lifelong Ghibli fan, especially of Kiki’s Delivery Service, I couldn’t wait to experience this town for myself. While the film wasn’t based on Onomichi, its peaceful atmosphere, hillside neighbourhoods overlooking the sea, and timeless charm reminded me so much of the world that inspired my love for Japan.
