The Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square) is one of the most important squares in the Portuguese capital Lisboa. In 1983, the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery were declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Belém Tower is one of Lisboas most famous landmark. The Cathedral of Santa Maria Major, often called Lisbon Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral. Built in 1147 it is the oldest church in the city. It has survived many earthquakes and has been rebuilt, renovated, and restored several times, resulting in a blend of different architectural styles.
