Episode 6 | Jethro Tull | Beyond the Albums - The Missing Years

There are missing years in our journey through Jethro Tull’s music. In Episode 6 of Jethro Tull - Beyond the Albums, we return to the 1970s to explore five recordings that sit outside the familiar studio-album story. We begin with the 1970 single Witch’s Promise, before moving to Lick Your Fingers Clean, recorded during the Aqualung sessions and later substantially reworked as Two Fingers. Then there is Saturation. A recording whose history is considerably less certain. The 20 Years of Jethro Tull booklet dates it only to circa 1974 and, rather wonderfully, admits that even the studio was no longer remembered. From there, we move to the 1978 single A Stitch in Time, before ending the decade with King Henry’s Madrigal, a traditional piece arranged by David Palmer and released on the ‘Home’ UK EP in 1979. Five recordings. Five different points across an extraordinary decade. And once again, 20 Years of Jethro Tull reminds us that the studio albums don’t contain the entire story.
