The pleasure is in the interaction. A melodic figure becomes a hook. A bass line finds its pocket. Independent voices weave around the beat, building tension, taking unexpected turns, and occasionally behaving with questionable historical decorum. Bach-hop is our name for this experiment. The music draws on Bach’s polyphonic and contrapuntal tradition, imagining what those intricate musical relationships might do in a very different rhythmic world. For Lorephonic’s goth and darkwave listeners, there is a familiar invitation here: minor-key beauty, restless repetition, and something faintly haunted beneath the dancing. The artwork brings Bach into our October company. He appears to be taking it reasonably well. We’ve had enormous fun making this, and we’re proud of how these musical worlds meet.
