On October 5, 2016, a registered nurse sat down with a detective in Woodstock, Ontario, and confessed to police. This video is the tape, what the overhead camera shows (we measured it), and what Ontario's official public inquiry says no one was in a position to see.
Eight people died in her care. For nine years, no one suspected. The inquiry concluded the offences would not have been discovered without her confession.

HOW WE MEASURED THE DISTANCE
We took 37 frames spread across the 2 hour 34 minute tape and, on each overhead frame, marked the centre of each person's head and measured the distance between them in pixels. The index uses the average of the first 35 minutes as 100. It is a hand measurement and approximate. It shows distance, not intent: the tape cannot tell us whether the detective's move was technique or simply two people sharing a page.
