The remote Welsh former junction station

Another video from our time in Wales this year. We are looking at a station which isnt disused, but is only a shadow of it's former self. Once an important junction on the Great Western Railway - Barmouth Junction. Set in a remote location on the south side of the Barmouth bridge, two lines converge as trains arrived from the Ruabon bridge packed with travellers from the Midlands. Meanwhile the Cambrian Coast line meanders down the coast, hudding the shore line. Only the latter is still in use. This leaves us with one side of the station disused. The station was opened in 1865 by the Aberystwith and Welsh Coast Railway, named Barmouth Junction. In 1960 it was renamed Morfa Mawddach. It was no longer a junction station, as the line to Ruabon closed in 1965. These days you can pass through the platforms on the Mawddach Trail from from Dolgellau.
