Why hip arthroscopy may not be the best option if you have a labral tear and arthritis

This educational video was created to help clarify some misconceptions about treatment options for hip pain in older patients with a labrum tear and arthritis that is not 'bad enough' yet for a hip replacement. Getting a hip arthroscopy to repair a labrum tear and 'clean things up' unfortunately does not work well in this situation and is not recommended. Hip replacements can work very well for patients with labrum tears and even mild arthritis. Finally, we share some good news that modern hip replacements last much longer than most people realize: approximately 92% of hip replacements will still be intact 30 years!
