Mario Lanza (Alfredo Arnold Cocozza) may have sounded like he was born in Italy, but he was born in Philadelphia. He was a film star in the 1940s and 1950s, as well as having several songs on the best seller charts. One of the movies he starred in was the 1952 MGM film “Because You’re Mine.” His version of the title tune, released August 23, 1952, reached #7 on the Billboard pop chart, #7 on Cashbox, and #3 in the UK.
