🌺 Nārāyaṇīyam – Kāliyopākhyānam 🌺 Nārāyaṇīyam is a magnificent Sanskrit devotional work composed by Melpathur Nārāyaṇa Bhaṭṭatiri, presenting the divine stories and glory of Lord Krishna and Lord Nārāyaṇa in 100 Daśakams (cantos). It is revered especially at Guruvayur Temple, where the poet offered his heartfelt prayers to Guruvayurappan. Daśakam 54–56 – Kāliyopākhyānam narrates the beautiful and profound episode of Lord Krishna and the serpent Kāliya. Kāliya, empowered by his poisonous nature and pride, takes refuge in the waters of the Yamunā. His poison contaminates the river, destroys the surrounding vegetation, and causes great suffering to the creatures living nearby. Seeing this distress, the compassionate Lord resolves to protect His devotees and restore purity to the Yamunā. Krishna then enters the Yamunā and confronts the mighty serpent. In Daśakam 55, the Lord leaps upon Kāliya's hoods and performs His enchanting cosmic dance. The Gopas rejoice, the sages praise Him, and the Devas shower flowers from heaven as the Lord dances upon the serpent's many heads. In Daśakam 56, Kāliya's pride is completely humbled. His wives, the Nāga-patnīs, surrender to Krishna and seek His mercy. The Lord, in His infinite compassion, forgives Kāliya and instructs him to leave the Yamunā and return to the ocean. Thus, the episode beautifully illustrates how divine grace destroys pride, protects the innocent, purifies what has been polluted, and ultimately transforms surrender into liberation. 🙏 May the divine grace of Lord Guruvayurappan fill our hearts with devotion, peace, humility, and surrender. May we remember Krishna's beautiful Kāliyamardhanam and learn that when we surrender our ego and seek the Lord's refuge, His compassion removes the poison within us. #Narayaneeyam #Kaliyopakhyanam #KaliyaMardhanam #Dasakam54 #Dasakam55 #Dasakam56 #Krishna #Guruvayurappan #GuruvayoorAppan #KrishnaLeela #Bhakti #Devotion #Sanskrit #Bhagavatam #NarayaneeyamRecitation #DivineGrace Dedicated to Lord Guruvayurappa Swamy. 🙏🌺
