රැස් වෙහෙර යනු ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ අනුරාධපුර යුගයට අයත් අතිශය වැදගත් බෞද්ධ පුරාවිද්‍යාත්මක ස්ථානයකි. නිස්කලංක වනාන්තර පරිසරයක පිහිටි මෙය, ඉතිහාසය, ආගම සහ ස්වභාවය එකට එකතු වන අලංකාර ස්ථානයක් ලෙස ප්‍රසිද්ධයි. අනුරාධපුර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ, බුල්නෑව ප්‍රදේශයට ආසන්නව පිහිටි මෙම පූජනීය ස්ථානයට ලබා වීමට ඇත්තේ වනාන්තර මාර්ගයක් ඔස්සේය. සාමාන්‍ය සංචාරක ස්ථානවලට වඩා ටිකක් දුරස්ථ පිහිටා ඇත. රැස්වෙහෙර පුදබිම තුල ඇති ප්‍රධානතම බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමාවහන්සේය අඩි 42 අඟල් 4ක් උස පිහිටි ගලේ නෙලන ලද ශෛලමය හිටි බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමාවහන්සේනමකි. අනුරපුර යුගයේ මැද භාගයට අයත් ලෙස පිළිගැනෙන මෙම බුදු පිළිමය ධාතුසේන රජු විසින් කරවන ලද්දක් බව ද ජනශ්‍රැතියේ කියවෙන අතර මෙම විහාර සංකීර්ණයට සැතපුම් කිහිපයක් නුදුරින් පිහිටි ධාතුසේන රජු ගේ නිර්මාණයක් ලෙස පිළිගන්නා අවුකන පිළිමය හා සසඳන විට එක්තරා අසම්පුර්ණ ස්වභාවයක් මෙමගින් පෙන්නුම් කෙරේ Ras Vehera is a very important Buddhist archaeological site from the Anuradhapura period in Sri Lanka. Set in a tranquil forest setting, it is known as a beautiful place where history, religion and nature come together. Located near the Bulnewa area in the Anuradhapura district, this sacred site is accessible via a forest road. It is a little more remote than the usual tourist spots. The main Buddha statue in the Ras Vehera sacred site is a 42 feet 4 inches tall standing Buddha statue carved from rock.
