The stonecutter

Inspired by the Japanese folktale The Stonecutter, first recorded in David Brauns’s Japanische Märchen und Sagen (Leipzig: Wilhelm Friedrich, 1885), this song follows a stonecutter’s transformations and his eventual discovery that true contentment lies in accepting himself.
