Indian Army on Alert: What’s Happening at the Arunachal LAC?
India has delivered a strong message on the India-China Border, making it clear that the state of border affairs will directly influence India-China Relations. But why has New Delhi issued this warning now — and what does it mean for Arunachal Pradesh? In the latest news India is watching closely, reports have emerged of a recent military face-off involving the Indian Army and Chinese PLA troops in Arunachal Pradesh. The reported incident took place in Upper Subansiri district near Taksing, with claims that Chinese troops briefly crossed the LAC near Pukar La and Ollo. The reports add fresh tension to the India-China Border and the wider India-China Conflict.
The development comes as India has formally identified 27 places and geographical features in Arunachal Pradesh using their standard Indian names on official Survey Of India maps. The move includes mountain passes, settlements, a high-altitude lake and Long Ju, which was the site of an early India-China confrontation in 1959. Beijing rejected India’s move, calling it “illegal, null and void” and continuing to describe Arunachal Pradesh as “Zangnan” or southern Tibet. India, however, has reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh is an inalienable and integral part of India.
This latest India China News comes after the 36th India-China WMCC meeting, where both sides agreed to continue addressing border issues through diplomatic and military channels. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has repeatedly stressed that peace and tranquillity along the border are essential for normal India-China Relations. For India, the lessons of the India China War 1962 remain part of the strategic context. Today, the Indian Army is strengthening infrastructure and preparedness along the LAC, while the government under PM Modi continues expanding connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh.
