IN THIS EPISODE
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock" is usually preached to people outside the faith. It was written to a church. In Part 5 of The End Times we read Revelation 1–3 slowly: an old man exiled on Patmos, seven golden lampstands, and seven letters to seven real cities on a Roman road — Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea. The details still match the history: a citadel taken twice by climbers, walls that cracked every day, a city too rich to accept help, and water that arrived lukewarm.

A NOTE ON THE WRITER AND DATE
Justin Martyr and Irenaeus identify the John of Revelation with the apostle; some scholars think he was a different John. Irenaeus dates the vision to the end of Domitian's reign (about AD 95); some date it earlier, under Nero.
WHERE CHRISTIANS DIFFER
Some read the seven letters as seven successive ages of church history; most read them as letters to seven real congregations that speak to every church at once. Both readings are presented here.
ABOUT THIS SERIES
The End Times — Read Slowly. Every line people argue about, read in context and at walking pace: who was in the room, what the King James words actually meant, and what happened next in history. No date-setting. Where Christians genuinely differ, we say so and show the main readings. KJV on screen, sources named.
