STIGMA — THE MARK We wrote “The Mark” about what happens when someone else’s definition of wrong gets placed on you long enough that you start mistaking it for your own. They gave us shapes. A circle. A square. Something clean enough to categorize. Something obedient enough to fit. We were told the deviation was the problem. So we questioned the geometry. “This is not ruin. This is revelation.” The mark isn’t the wound. It’s the evidence that something survived the attempt to contain it. The “code” is everything beneath the imposed structure — the part that refuses to be corrected, completed, simplified, or made convenient. We eventually stopped asking to be made whole according to someone else’s measurement. “The code doesn’t need completion. It only needs exposure.” That’s where the song turns. What was called a flaw becomes a language. What was called a stigma becomes a map. What was supposed to silence us becomes the thing speaking loudest. They called it stigma. We read it as scripture.
