It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World Cast Then and Now 2026 – Only One Star Is Still Alive 😱

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World brought together the greatest comedy cast ever assembled in one film, and in 2026 only one star from it is still alive. Sixty-three years after Stanley Kramer packed the screen with practically every comedian working in Hollywood in 1963, the roll call has become one of the most sobering in movie history, and in this cast then and now video we look at every face from that legendary treasure hunt and what happened to them after the cameras stopped. Spencer Tracy was the weary Captain Culpeper, and he was gone just four years later. Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Buddy Hackett, Mickey Rooney, Jonathan Winters, Phil Silvers, Terry-Thomas, Dick Shawn, Ethel Merman, Edie Adams, Dorothy Provine and Jim Backus have all since passed away, some far too young and some after decades more of the laughter they were born to make. The great cameos went the same way, from Buster Keaton and the Three Stooges to Jerry Lewis, Don Knotts and Peter Falk. Carl Reiner died in June 2020, and when Nicholas Georgiade followed in December 2021, the film was left with a single surviving cast member. That survivor is Barrie Chase, the dancer who partnered Fred Astaire on television before she joined this madcap chase across the California desert. Born in October 1933, she is 92 years old today and the last living link to the biggest comedy ever made. Stay to the end to see her then and now, and tell us in the comments which of these unforgettable faces you miss the most. Subscribe for more classic cast then and now videos every week.
