Cat Ballou Then and Now 2026 | Who's Still Alive After 61 Years?

Sixty-one years after Cat Ballou rode into cinemas in 1965, we are asking the question every nostalgia fan wants answered, which is who's still alive from this cast today. The comedy Western made a star of a twenty-seven-year-old Jane Fonda and handed Lee Marvin the Academy Award for Best Actor, and six decades later almost everyone who shared that screen with them is gone. This is the Cat Ballou cast then and now in 2026, face by face, tracing where are they now for every name on the poster. Jane Fonda turned an overnight breakthrough into sixty years of Oscars, controversy and activism, and at 88 she is still working. Lee Marvin, the wounded Marine who played the ruined gunfighter Kid Shelleen, died in 1987 and lies at Arlington National Cemetery. Nat King Cole sang the film's ballad with a tumour in his lung and was gone four months before anyone saw the picture. Stubby Kaye, Michael Callan, Dwayne Hickman, Reginald Denny, Jay C. Flippen, John Marley, Bruce Cabot, Arthur Hunnicutt and Burt Mustin each have an ending of their own, and several of them will genuinely surprise you, from the actor who lost a leg while the film was still shooting, to the Englishman who built America's first military drone, to the most recognizable teenager on television who quietly walked away to run a network. You'd never recognize some of these faces today, and the shocking changes go far beyond the way they aged. Only two people from this cast are still with us in 2026. Tell us in the comments which of these actors you remember most clearly, and subscribe for more classic cast then and now videos.
