In this video I share my experience composing a new piece of music in 16-channel surround sound, using the CLEAT spatial audio system at Elastic Arts, in Chicago. My collaborator Ryan Gaston and I will take you behind the scenes to share the process we used to compose this piece, how we handled spatialization and panning, as well as the instruments and sound processing techniques we used.
The composition from this video was premiered at the Elastic Arts CLEAT Listening and Performance Series on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 8:00 PM.
CLEAT, or The Chicago Laboratory for Electro-Acoustic Theater, is a community resource for multi-channel audio exploration, currently installed at Elastic Arts in Chicago.
