Massive Dharna Held for Protection of Jamia Nizamia–Raidurg Waqf Land Hyderabad, 13 September 2026: A massive dharna was organised today at the Indira Park Dharna Chowk, Hyderabad, under the aegis of the Jamia Nizamia–Raidurg Waqf Protection Joint Action Committee (JAC) for the protection of the historically, educationally and socially significant Jamia Nizamia–Raidurg 500 Acres 35 Guntas Waqf land. The programme was held under the leadership and chairmanship of JAC State President Janab Abdul Wahab Sahib. Representatives of various political and public organisations, Ulama, educationists, social activists, media representatives and a large number of people concerned about the protection of Waqf properties participated in the dharna and expressed their strong solidarity. Historical Background of Jamia Nizamia Jamia Nizamia is a historic educational institution established in 1872 AD / 1292 AH by Hafiz Muhammad Anwarullah Farooqui (RA). For more than a century, the institution has rendered distinguished services in the fields of education, religious studies and social service. The JAC made it clear that the Waqf properties associated with Jamia Nizamia are not merely parcels of land, but are a historic, educational and socially significant national and community trust. Their protection is a collective responsibility for the benefit of future generations. Major Demands and Issues Auction proceeds from Waqf land should be given to Jamia Nizamia A dispute is ongoing regarding approximately 510.35 guntas of Jamia Nizamia Waqf land located in Survey No. 83/1 in the Raidurg–Panmaktha area. Out of this land, approximately 10.63 acres was included in the auction process conducted by TGIIC, with its estimated value stated to be approximately ₹2,889 crore. The Government should ensure that, in accordance with law, the financial benefits arising from this Waqf land accrue to Jamia Nizamia and are utilised for the institution’s educational, social, religious and developmental activities. Protection of the remaining Waqf land The Government should immediately conduct a comprehensive survey of the approximately 500 acres of remaining Waqf land in the Raidurg area, identify and demarcate its boundaries, and construct a permanent boundary wall to protect the land. Amjed Ullah Khan Addresses the Protest Meeting While addressing the protest meeting, Mr. Amjed Ullah Khan (Spokesman), MBT, said that irrespective of which party is in government — TDP, Congress or BRS — all have systematically damaged Waqf properties in the erstwhile United Andhra Pradesh and in Telangana State. Mr. Khan said that until 1999, nobody had heard of Waqf properties being sold or grabbed on such a large scale. He said that after the late Gazi-e-Millat Aman Ullah Khan, former MLA and founder of MBT, lost the Assembly elections, successive governments and the land mafia started targeting Waqf lands worth crores of rupees. Mr. Khan said that nowadays Muslim MLAs are wasting the time allotted to them in the Assembly by raising petty issues while avoiding the raising of major issues concerning Muslims and the protection of valuable Waqf properties. Mr. Khan reminded the gathering how Gazi-e-Millat Alhaj Mohammad Aman Ullah Khan had raised the issue of protection of 110 acres of Waqf land belonging to Guttala Begumpet Eidgah and Mosque. Despite being the lone MBT MLA, late Aman Ullah Khan did not allow the Assembly to function for four hours and forced the then Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to visit the spot and stop the encroachment. Mr. Khan further recalled how late Gazi-e-Millat Alhaj Mohammad Aman Ullah Khan woke up the then Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at around 3:00 AM when BJP MLA Baddam Bal Reddy was adamant about creating communal tension over the Zena Bagh Masjid issue, and offered Fajr Namaz after opening the locks of the mosque. Mr. Khan said that despite Asaduddin Owaisi having been a Waqf Board Member since 1994 and subsequently serving as an MLA and MP, and despite the entire Waqf Board being under their control, Waqf properties worth crores of rupees are being handed over to multinational companies or being grabbed by land grabbers. Mr. Khan alleged that this raises a serious question as to whether sections of the Muslim leadership are taking their share and remaining silent while valuable Waqf properties are being lost. He demanded that Muslim public representatives should stop wasting their valuable time on insignificant issues and instead raise serious matters concerning the protection of Waqf properties and the rights and interests of the Muslim community in the Legislative Assembly and other appropriate forums.
