Norfolk Southern & North Shore Railroad - A Busy Friday Evening at Norry Yard

Another one from the time machine, if I only felt like going back 8 years. After chasing Lycoming Valley Railroad around (which I actually uploaded on time), my bro Kyle (‪@TrainiacProductions‬) and I decided to kill sometime during rush hour in Northumberland, PA along the Norfolk Southern Buffalo Line to see what we could catch before nightfall. With traffic along this part of the railroad typically limited to locals out of Norry Yard, empty and loaded coal trains and the North Shore Railroad, it can be feast or famine around here. Well, as luck would have it on the gloomy Friday evening of November 2nd, 2018, we showed up to feast. What started briefly as a quiet outing became quite the busy bit of time in Norry Yard, as NS Extra Crew K2J began their work to assemble a consist of lumber cars for Herndon Reload, a customer located down the Buffalo Line, sporting NS SD40-2 3374 and GP40-2 3030 for power. As K2J got themselves together, NS K22 returned after working customers above Norry with a nice duo running push-pull, GP38-2 High Hood 5004 and GP38-2 5323. After K22 cleared up, the Norry to Enola Turn, H53 crossed the Susquehanna River and returned to home base with SD40-2 duo 3347 and 3423 for power, also looking to tie up and call it a day. With K22 and H53 in the clear, the nearly continuous railroad action went on, now with North Shore Railroad's NSHR-1 local returning after working customers along the Union County Industrial Railroad, the all-too familiar sound of an EMD End Cab revealed former NS SW1500 2238 as the power as they put their train away and ran lite out of the yard, also to wrap up for the day and the workweek. Finally with all the arrivals completed, NS K2J rolled out of Norry Yard to Herndon and we would head for home. The Pre-PSR days of Norfolk Southern were certainly something worthwhile.
