📖 A PAGE DAILY | DAY 027 SURAH AL-BAQARAH (2:177–181) The Cow — Verses 177–181 ✨ 5-POINT SUMMARY Based on Tafsir Ibn Kathir 1. Verse 177 — True righteousness is shown through faith and actions True righteousness is not merely about facing east or west in prayer. It means believing in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Scriptures, and the prophets, while giving charity, establishing prayer, paying zakah, fulfilling promises, and remaining patient during hardship. True believers demonstrate their faith through sincere belief and righteous actions. 2. Verse 178 — Justice and forgiveness in cases of murder Allah prescribes qiṣāṣ (legal retaliation) in cases of murder to establish justice. However, the victim’s family may choose forgiveness and accept fair compensation according to Islamic law. This verse teaches that justice must be upheld while leaving room for mercy and reconciliation. 3. Verse 179 — Justice helps preserve human life Allah explains that there is protection of life in qiṣāṣ for people of understanding, so that they may become mindful of Him. Just laws deter violence, protect innocent lives, and help maintain peace within society. 4. Verse 180 — Prepare responsibly for death Allah addresses the responsibility of making a fair bequest when death approaches and wealth is left behind. The rulings on inheritance further clarify how wealth must be distributed, particularly among rightful heirs. This reminds believers to handle their wealth responsibly and respect the rights of their family. 5. Verse 181 — Do not change a bequest unjustly Whoever alters a bequest after hearing it bears the responsibility for that wrongdoing. Allah hears and knows everything. However, if someone intervenes to correct an unjust bequest and reconcile the parties fairly, there is no sin upon them. Islam teaches us to protect people's rights and resolve disputes with justice. 🌙 TODAY’S REMINDER True righteousness combines faith, worship, generosity, patience, and justice. Islam teaches us to protect life, honour our responsibilities, and respect the rights of others. Let our faith be reflected not only in our prayers but also in our decisions, our dealings, and the way we treat people. 📖 One Page. One Video. Three Times a Day. Read it. Understand it.
