The Washington State Fair Has a Full-Size Wooden Roller Coaster?!

The Washington State Fair has a full-size wooden roller coaster—and it’s been thrilling riders since 1935! After years of having this fair on my bucket list, I finally made it to Puyallup to experience one of the most unique ride collections of any state fair in the country. The star of the show is Classic Coaster, a 1935 John A. Miller wooden roller coaster that still runs vintage Prior & Church trains—the only coaster in the world where you can experience them today. In this vlog, I explore the Washington State Fair for the first time, taking a front-row sunset ride on Classic Coaster (with a 4K POV!), experiencing the fair’s classic Schwarzkopf Wildcat, and riding the historic Von Roll Skyride that originally debuted at the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair. Along the way, I stumble upon an incredibly rare flat ride I never thought I’d get the chance to experience, pick up a few unexpected coaster credits, and finish the night with a back-row ride on Classic Coaster in the dark. I came to the Washington State Fair excited to finally ride Classic Coaster, but I walked away seriously impressed by the entire ride collection—not to mention some fantastic operations and incredibly friendly people throughout the fair.
