Join Dr. Gursimran Kaur on Day 2 of our spiritual family journey through Patna Sahib and Rajgir, Bihar, as we explore four historic Sikh Gurdwaras, discover their fascinating histories, listen to katha and shabad, and experience the peace of a pilgrimage together.
Welcome to Glow & Grow Diaries — Chapter 4: Takht Sri Patna Sahib: A Spiritual Journey | Episode 3.
This day takes us beyond the usual tourist experience, into places connected with Guru Gobind Singh Ji's childhood, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's journey and Guru Nanak Dev Ji's spiritual legacy.
📍 GURDWARAS EXPLORED IN THIS EPISODE
1. Gurdwara Handi Sahib, Danapur, Bihar
Our day begins at Gurdwara Handi Sahib, a historic shrine associated with Guru Gobind Singh Ji's early life. According to the traditional account, Mata Jasni lovingly prepared khichdi in a handi for Guru Ji and the accompanying sangat. This simple act of seva became the enduring story behind the name Handi Sahib. We experience the darshan, Hukamnama, katha, langar hall and peaceful surroundings of the Gurdwara.
2. Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Sheetal Kund Sahib, Rajgir, Bihar
Our journey continues to Rajgir, approximately two hours by road in our experience. This sacred site is associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji's visit to Rajgir. According to tradition, the water here became cool and suitable for drinking through Guru Ji's grace, giving rise to the name Sheetal Kund. We explore the impressive Gurdwara building, attend darshan and share a shabad recitation.
3. Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh Sahib, Patna, Bihar
One of the most moving historical stops of our journey, Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh Sahib commemorates the meeting of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and his young son, Gobind Rai Ji, who later became Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
According to tradition, the garden belonged to Nawabs Rahim Bakhsh and Karim Bakhsh. The once-withered garden is believed to have become lush and green following Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's arrival, after which the Nawabs gifted the garden to Guru Ji.
During our visit, we see the historic well, the preserved stump of the sacred imli (tamarind) tree associated with the meeting, and a kara traditionally associated with Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. We also spend time listening to katha and reflecting on the remarkable history of this sacred place.
4. Gurdwara Bal Leela Sahib (Bal Lila Maini Sangat), Patna Sahib
We conclude our day at Gurdwara Bal Leela Sahib, associated with the childhood of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, then known as Gobind Rai. The traditional history tells of the young Guru's affectionate bond with Rani Maini, the wife of Raja Fateh Chand Maini, who lovingly cared for him and his companions. The tradition of serving boiled gram at this shrine recalls that story of affection and devotion.
As the day draws to a close, we listen to shabad and spend a few peaceful moments in sangat, ending our journey with gratitude.

This episode is more than a travel vlog. It is an exploration of Sikh history, the traditions preserved at historic Gurdwaras, the spirit of seva, and the meaningful memories created while travelling with family.
