In ANSYS Workbench, defining uniaxial tensile strength for Solid65 elements can lead to instability. To prevent this, it is recommended to set UnTensSt (compressive strength) = -1. This ensures that ANSYS ignores crack-related effects, allowing concrete’s compressive behavior to be modeled as a ductile material using plasticity models like Von Mises or Drucker-Prager (DP). While these models do not perfectly capture brittle failure behavior, they remain a practical alternative for specific simulations.
