Loft Any 2 Shapes in Blender Geometry Nodes | Custom Loft Profile Node
Curve to Mesh works great for a single profile, but it falls apart the moment you need a smooth transition between two different profiles. In this tutorial, we build a custom group node called "Loft Profile" that bridges any two mesh profiles into one clean, smooth mesh, fully procedural, with control over resolution and shape.
You'll learn how to:
• Convert meshes to curves, fillet and refill them into clean base and target surfaces
• Store and sample vertex positions with Store Named Attribute and Sample Index
• Extrude faces and snap them to a target with Set Position
• Use Attribute Statistic to get average positions and a direction vector
• Break the transition into smooth steps with a Repeat Zone
• Control tapering and expansion along the height with a Float Curve
• Pack everything into a reusable group node with a clean interface
• Expose the Float Curve outside the group using Evaluate Closure (Blender 5+)
CHAPTERS
00:00 Why Curve to Mesh fails between two profiles
00:34 Setting up the example meshes
01:31 Mesh to Curve, Fillet Curve and Fill Curve
02:22 Storing the target position on the base mesh
03:35 Extrude Mesh and Set Position
04:55 Average positions and the direction vector
05:55 Wrapping the setup in a Repeat Zone
06:25 Dividing the transition into segments
07:48 Accumulating the position each iteration
09:42 Shaping the loft with a Float Curve
10:18 Resample Curve for even distribution
10:38 Packing into a group node and cleaning the interface
11:30 Exposing the Float Curve with Evaluate Closure (Blender 5+)
REQUIREMENTS
• Blender 5.0 or newer (needed for the Evaluate Closure part; the core loft logic works in earlier Geometry Nodes versions)
• Basic familiarity with Geometry Nodes
