There was a time when religious scholars defended religion by quoting the Quran, Hadith, and classical religious authorities. But times have changed. Today, when confronted by liberals, secularists, feminists, or anyone daring to question religious narratives, quoting scripture is no longer considered sufficient. Science has become the new weapon in the religious defence industry. In this satirical piece, we take a humorous look at Qaiser Ahmed Raja’s approach to defending religious positions through scientific terminology, selective research, and supposedly empirical evidence. Whether the subject is individual freedom, liberalism, women’s clothing, or Western nightlife, the answer seems to follow the same formula: produce some impressive scientific-sounding terminology, throw in a few percentages, mention a prestigious university, and declare the debate settled!
Through deliberately absurd fictional research studies, imaginary scientific journals, and hilariously questionable neurological and biological explanations, this piece exposes the dangers of manipulating scientific language to justify conclusions that have already been decided on religious grounds. The real issue is not whether science and religion can engage in dialogue, but whether science is being genuinely understood or simply recruited as a convenient tool to defend predetermined beliefs. When scientific evidence becomes selective, terminology replaces understanding, and research is twisted to fit an ideological agenda, the result is not science but pseudoscience dressed up as intellectual authority. After all, when religion needs science to defend every argument, and science itself becomes a servant of ideology, one can only say: What a Joke! #religion #islam #history #Quran #Hadith #muslim #science
