Nazmus Sakib sits down with Vhaskar Bhattacharjee, a UNESCO Laureate and globally recognized Digital Accessibility Specialist, for a wide-ranging conversation on artificial intelligence, independence, and the everyday reality of disability rights in Bangladesh. Blind since the age of two and raised in Bagdandi village in Chattogram's Patiya upazila, Bhaskar's own journey — from a school with no Braille textbooks to becoming one of the most recognized voices in Bangladesh's disability rights movement — runs through a conversation that moves between AI-powered independence, hard data on Bangladesh's accessibility gaps, a personal fight against banking discrimination, and a message of hope for parents raising children with visual impairments. In this conversation, we discuss: Bhaskar's childhood in rural Chattogram and his fight for an education How everyday AI tools like Google Maps, Uber, and Google Lookout enable independence Bangladesh's accessibility gap compared to Japan and other countries Why awareness gaps, unimplemented laws, and a narrow view of "accessibility" hold Bangladesh back His personal fight against a bank's credit card discrimination Why universal design benefits everyone, not just persons with disabilities A message of hope for parents of children with disabilities About the Guest Bhaskar Bhattacharya is a UNESCO Laureate and globally recognized Digital Accessibility Specialist, and one of the most familiar faces of the disability rights movement in Bangladesh. Blind since the age of two, he grew up in Bagdandi village in Chattogram's Patiya upazila and studied History at the University of Chittagong before a Duskin Leadership Training fellowship in Japan became a turning point in his career. He now trains young people and organizations across Bangladesh on digital accessibility, has helped bring thousands of government websites up to WCAG Level A, and successfully fought a Human Rights Commission case against banking discrimination. He is currently writing a book on technology and disability titled "প্রযুক্তির আলোয়" . About the Host Md.
