AUA Focus Series S2 E16: Focus on Ethics and Public Policy

In this episode of the AUA Media Lab's Focus Series, Professor Maria Baghramian, European Research Areas (ERA) chair and director of the Horizon Europe-funded AUA Center for Ethics in Public Affairs, sits down with Professor Jonathan Wolff, Emeritus Alfred Landecker Professor of Values and Public Policy at the University of Oxford. Visiting AUA as an advisor to the ETICA project, Professor Wolff reflects on his distinguished career in philosophy and his contributions to public policy, discussing how philosophical thinking can help address some of today's most pressing societal challenges. The conversation explores the idea of healthcare as a human right, the role of governments in ensuring equitable access to care, and the ethical considerations surrounding emerging healthcare reforms. They also discuss the importance of trust in public institutions, the rapid development of artificial intelligence and other transformative technologies, and the responsibility of today's societies to protect future generations.
