What's the PROBLEM with the Bills Defense? | Carl's Corner

Welcome to Carl’s Corner! While the Buffalo Bills pulled off a massive win against the Los Angeles Rams, the defensive performance left fans with plenty of questions. In this episode, we step into the office to break down the film and figure out if the recent struggles are a result of the scheme or the players on the field. We take a deep look at the All-22 tape to diagnose major issues, including an inexcusable play where the Bills only had ten men on the field. From questionable personnel matchups against stars like Davante Adams to miscommunications in the secondary that led to huge chunk plays, we cover it all. You will see why playing soft coverage on third down is putting the cornerbacks in a tough spot and how Jim Leonhard’s system is being tested by elite talent. However, it is not all bad news for the Buffalo faithful. We highlight the impressive reps from Christian Benford and Davison Igbinosun. When these outside corners are allowed to play aggressive press-man coverage, they prove they can compete with the best receivers in the NFL, including Puka Nacua. We discuss why the Bills need to lean into these strengths while fixing the issues up the spine of the defense at the linebacker and safety positions.
