Most of us listen to something in English once, feel a bit lost, and move straight on to the next thing. Emily makes the case for the second listen: what your brain is really doing the first time, why the small words only appear later, and how repetition turns a hard audio into one you can use. Along the way, a simple plan of three or four listens, each with a different job, so it never gets boring.
What you will take away:
That the first listen only gives you the shape of what you heard, and the real learning - the little words, the meaning, the details - arrives on the second and third. You also learn why going back to old audio is the only honest way to see your own progress.
What you practise in English:
Repeated listening to the same input, and prediction - guessing the next word half a second before the speaker says it. Plus vocabulary around repetition, habit and progress.
Level: A2 | Length: 16:27
Listen all the way to the end, even if you lose a few words on the way. Coming back to the same episode a second time is where most of the progress happens.
