Pangong to Lamayuru — The Road Less Travelled | EP. 6 The morning started with one problem we really didn't need... Our Swift wouldn't start. It was early morning in Merak, the temperature was close to freezing, and our 2013 Swift had other plans. No mechanic. No petrol pump. Just a few strangers who decided to help. After almost an hour and a half of trying, pushing, and borrowing petrol from a fellow traveller from Patiala... The Swift finally came back to life. And that changed everything. Instead of taking the usual route back towards Leh, we chose the road less travelled. Merak → Chushul → Nyoma → Mahe → Chumathang → Leh → Lamayuru Long empty roads. The Indus River. Rezang La War Memorial. Natural hot water springs at Chumathang. And somewhere along the way, the journey stopped feeling like a drive... It became an experience. We also stopped at Gurudwara Shri Pathar Sahib, paid our respects, and spent a few quiet moments there. Then came Magnetic Hill — where we put our Swift in neutral and watched the famous illusion for ourselves. By evening, we finally reached Lamayuru. But it still wasn't over. Around midnight, we headed towards the Moonland viewpoint. And standing there under the stars... It was hard to believe the same day had started with a car that simply wouldn't start. Maybe that's what makes a road trip special.
