You paste your resume and a job post into ChatGPT and say "make it fit." Back comes a polished resume with a skill you don't have and a number you never gave it. That's a resume you can't defend in an interview.
Five copy-paste prompt moves to tailor your resume to a specific job without making anything up: give it the real inputs, pull out what the job actually asks for, match each requirement to a real line in your resume, rewrite with no new facts, and run a truth check before you send. Works in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any chat assistant.
What you will learn:
1. GIVE IT THE REAL INPUTS: the full job post, your resume with contact details removed, and notes on what you actually did
2. PULL OUT WHAT THEY WANT: every requirement, marked must-have or nice-to-have, in the post's exact words
3. MATCH WITH PROOF: a real resume line for each requirement, or an honest GAP
4. REWRITE, NO NEW FACTS: the post's words only where true, with blanks instead of made-up numbers
5. RUN A TRUTH CHECK: every claim listed with its source, and anything without one flagged

Copy-paste A) Give it the real inputs
JOB POST: [paste the full posting]
MY RESUME: [paste it, with phone, email and address removed]
MY NOTES: [tools, team size, results I can back up]
RULE: use only facts from my resume and notes.
Copy-paste B) Pull out what they want
LIST every requirement in this job post.
MARK each one: must-have or nice-to-have.
QUOTE the post's exact words for each.
DON'T add requirements that aren't written there.
Copy-paste C) Match with proof
FOR EACH requirement: quote the line in my resume that proves it.
IF nothing proves it, write GAP. Don't stretch it.
SHOW a table: requirement · my line · match or gap.
ASK me about gaps instead of guessing.
Copy-paste D) Rewrite, no new facts
REWRITE my bullets for this job. Use the post's words only where true.
USE only facts from my resume and notes. No new tools, titles or results.
LEAVE [number?] where a number would help but I didn't give one.
KEEP my real job titles and dates exactly.
Copy-paste E) Run a truth check
LIST every claim in the new resume, one per line.
SOURCE each one: my resume line, my notes, or NONE.
FLAG anything with no source, a changed title, or a new number.
I'll make the final edits. Don't add anything new.
How this differs from our other videos:
Job interview prep with ChatGPT: that one rehearses the interview. Here you're getting the resume right before you apply.
Make ChatGPT write like you: that one matches your voice. Here the job is matching a specific job post while keeping every fact true.
Catch AI hallucinations: that one spots made-up answers in general. Here the made-up parts would go out under your own name.
Honest catch: AI can invent skills, inflate job titles, or add numbers you never gave it, so check every line against your real history before you send anything. Leave your phone number, email, and address out when you paste. A tailored resume helps you show the match; it doesn't guarantee an interview.
Made-up demos: the job post, resume lines, names, numbers, and AI replies shown in the video are illustrative examples, not a real person or a real job.
Accuracy note: this video teaches prompt habits for tailoring a resume with a chat assistant, not features of any specific AI product or hiring system. No invented stats. Habits, not guarantees.
