Rescue on Weismiess | Unguided

26/06/2026 - Unguided on Weismiess. The route had changed considerably due to the warmer than usual weather. Heavily crevassed the early morning start from the Hosaas Hut was crucial. On our way down a group we had met on the summit lost their rope after re rigging from the abseil. It was not retrievable, so we all roped up and descended the mountain together. Weismiess is often listed as a beginner mountain, but in my opinion it is far from especially now. Thankfully Ive had over 15 years of rock climbing experience to fall on, and multiple Scottish winters.
